比利时海尔梅斯旗舞团（Flagwaving Group "De Gelmelzwaaiers", Belgium）
Gelmelzwaaiers Flag waving Group consists of 14 standard bearers and a drummer who accompanies the guild. The Group leader is Etienne Vandeirsbilck, who is also the vice-chairman of the International Organization of Folk Art (IOV).
The present guild has started again in 1972. The oldest standard-bearers of the Group have been practicing for more than 25 years. The Group's performances are welcomed both Belgium and abroad.
The flag-flourishing with great flags. 2m×2m, with a total weight flag plus staff of about 4kg is an old Flemish folk-custom. It reached its climax during the rhetorician feasts in the 17th century. Flag waving is an ensemble of technical, strength and suppleness. The standard-bearer's uniform comes from the Burgundian time and is designed after the model of the standard-bearers of Duck John. They have the cost of arms of the County of Hoogstraten.
中国民间艺术(Chinese Folk Art)
Chinese folk songs and dances are rich and colorful with a long history. On the vast territory of 9.6 million square kilometers, different localities have different styles. The 55 minority nationalities are all good singing and dancing. Nationalities with beautiful folk songs and dances include the Uygur, the Kazak and the Tajik nationalities living in Xinjiang, the Mongols in Inner Mongolia, the Korean and Man nationalities in Northeast China, the Tibetan, Miao, Yao, Yi, Li, Jingpo, and the Bouyei nationalities living in South and Southwest China. There are many good singers and dancers from these nationalities. Now about 10,000 specialists and amateurs in China have taken part in the work of exploring, restoring, compiling and developing folk songs and dances.
During the first China International Folk Art Festival, we are presenting to our friends from all countries the folk songs and dances from North China where people celebrate festive days and joyful events in the popular form of lantern-dragon dance, lion dance, walking on stilts, the Yangko dance, beating the Taiping(peace) drums, boat cymbal-bass drum dance.

古巴《塔伊古巴三重奏》小组（The Taicuba Trio, Cuba）
The taicuba Trio group was founded in 1946. Its name comprises Tai and Cuba; Tai comes from Taino, the name of a sea island.
The group specializes in traditional Cuban music and songs. It often gives performances in concert-halls and has visited France, the Netherlands, Greek, Spain, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Venezuela and Panama.
Guitarrists and singers include Baz Tabrane and Jose Luise Martinez. Percussionist and singer is Babaro A. Valdes-Cataneo Ezquivel.
Headed by Abel Prieto, chairman of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the Taicuba Trio group will participate in the China International Folk Art Festive. Among the dozen of interesting items in its programmed, there are Spanish guitar performances (The Song music) "Son Music from the hill", "Give Me a Drink" and "black Byes", songs "The Tall Girl", "pearls of your Lips" and Bolero songs "Night of Cuba", "Havana" and "Peanut Seller".
朝鲜平壤艺术团(Pyongyang Art Troupe, D.P.R.K)
The Pyongyang Art Troupe was formed in 1948. The famous art troupe consists of 600 creators and artists.
The troupe is often divided into many detachments to be dispatched for different colorful performances to various places in the country ranging from the urban theatres to factories and countryside. The Pyongyang Art troupe made friendship performance tours to more than 50 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America, which called forth-high tribute and love. The troupe also took part in different international art festivals including the festivals held in Vienna, Helsinki and Berlin, where it was awarded the special prize and various medals including gold medals.
The Pyongyang Art Troupe sends an art group of 25 members to participate the China International Folk Art Festival. Their "Changgo-Drum Dance", "A Cowboy and Girls", and "Greeting the spring" etc. are famous folk dances which have distinctive national features.
印度舞剧团(Indian Art Troupes)
Two Indian art troupes participate the First China International Folk Art Festival.
They are Seraikela Chhau Dance Troupe (Consists of 14 dancers). There are totally 21 members (including 2 directors).
Chhau dance performed by Seraikela Chhau Dance Troupe and Manipuri dance performed by Pung Cholam Group, are the famous folk dances of India. Chhau is a kind of lyrical and poetic dance style prevailing in the eastern part of India. The dancers wearing beautiful masks made of clay and paper emulate by body postures the flight of birds and butterflies, the waves of the sea. In the Manipuri dance, the dancer and drummer are one-the dancer plays the drum as he dances. The drum can produce the varies whispers and the most thunderous, wild beats. The dancers leap high into the air, and spins, not for a moment stopping the drumming. This dance can be danced by a solo performer or as many as a hundred men-but only by men not by women.
The rhythmic dances will leave a deep impression on the audiences.
意大利民间艺术团（Folk Groups from Italy）
The Federation of Italian Folk Traditions (President:Lillo Allesandro) sends Cagliari "Quartiere Villanova " Group and "Citta di Tempio" Group to participate the first China International Folk Art Festival. These two Groups were founded in 1976 and 1966,respectively. Since they were formed, the Groups have been doing their best to find and recover all the traditions of their own regions, and make known the songs and dances by carrying out performances in Italy and abroad.
"Quartiere Villanova " dances the most ancient dances in Sardinia, accompanied by the archaic sound of the "Launneddas" and by diatonic accordion, dressed with the rich costumes used in Cagliari during XIII century. They give expressions typical of religious and social-political traditions in Sardinia.
"Citta di Tempio "is made up of students and workers. The Group dances the traditional dances that have kept their originality and authenticity throughout the centuries in Gallura. Emery year the Group organizes an international folk festival, which takes place in Tempio.
There are altogether 32 people in the two Groups. The folk Groups took part in many international festivals and performances held in Spain, France, West Germany, Holland, Tunisia, Canada, Poland, Greece, Ireland, India, Turkey, Finland, Malta, Egypt and Mexico. Their programmers are most welcomed.
蒙古"蓝天"民间歌舞团（Hogh Tenger Fgolk Art Group, Mongolia）
Hogh Tenger (Blue Sky) Song and Dance Ensemble, composed of 25 people from all walks of life and headed by Deputy Minister of Culture, G.Nyamsambuu, has come to join the first China International Foul Art Festival.
The group will present folk dances such as the Pastoral Landscape, Mongolian Women and Ancient Dance; traditional folk music like the 4-stringed instrument solo, Hoofbeat; folk songs and lithe performances, which show the bold and unconstrained character of the Mongolian people and their folk customs.
The Hogh Tenger was awarded the First Prize during the Mongolian National Folk Art Festival earlier this year.
菲律宾中华艺术舞蹈研究所（Gwa Yi Ethnic Dance Cent, Philippines.）
Founded in June 1971, Hwa Yi Dance Center has gained certain fame on Philippine theatre stages. The Center was formed by vigorous young men who love dance and devote themselves to the study and performance of Philippine and Chinese dances and songs. The Artistic Director of Hwa Yi Dance Center is Mr. Jerry Sibal Ong.
In 1988 and 1989, Hwa Yi Dance Center participated the first and the second Philippine Folk Art Festival. Their performances were among the best.
In 1989, dancers from the Center took part in the Second China Arts Festival held in Beijing and received the Best Chorgeography and Best Performance Awards.
During the first China International Folk Art Festival, dancers from the Center will perform Pandanggo, Maglalatik and Tinikling etc., which are the typical dances of Philippines.
It was founded in November, 1988.although it is a very new group, they took the first place in the local competition held in Bursa and then they participated in the regional competition held in Marmara Region. In that competition they also took the first place, so they got the right for taking part in the competition held for all over Turkey.
The Group consists of 100 dancers and they are dancing he folk dances of 6 different Regions. It is a group which performing the stage activities but with authentic costumes and dances. In its program there are dances on wedding ceremonies and in harvest time.
Russian folk dance is so much applause for its unique local flavor, graceful melody and vigorous movements.
Coming from Barnaul in Altai, the Group is composed of gifted students coming professional schools.
Because of its high quality of performance, the Group was awarded in the Soviet Union Art Festival, and Altai Lenin Komsomol Prize.
The group has given performances in 25 countries in the world such as Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Hungary, and African countries, etc.
The group to attend the first China Folk Art Festival is composed of 25 persons including director, choreographer, accordists, 6 couples of dancers, and 8 girl-singers.

Rocky Mountain Dancers comes from Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A. the group was founded in 1980 by its current director, George
Frandsen, vice president of the International organization of Folk Art (IOV), and president of the National Folk Organization of the United States of America.
During past years, the group has completed ten international tours, giving performances in Poland, the Soviet Union, Puerto Rico, Canada, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, France and the other countries, and also appeared on national television in Belgium, Austria, Norway, Denmark, France, Spain, U.S.S.R. and other countries.
Rocky MAOUNTAIN dancers performs dance from throughout the United States, including square dances, clogging, pioneer dances, contras, quadrilles, reels, Appalachian Mountain dances and New England dances. A bluegrass band composed of fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar and bass accompanies the performers.
Rocky Mountain Dancers hope that this performance would enhance the friendship between American and Chinese peoples.
美国波利尼西亚文化中心歌舞团（Polynesian Cultural Center Dancers, U.S.A.）
Polynesian Cultural Center Dancers come from Hawaii, U.S.A. The Polynesian Cultural Center has been striving to protect the Polynesian traditions since it was founded in 1963. the Cancers from the Center will perform, during the first China International Folk Art Festival, splendid dances and songs which are typical of Hawaii, Somoa, Tonga, Tahiti, Fiji, and other islands. All the dancers are students from Brigham Young University-Hawaii Campus.
No trip to Hawaii will be completed without visiting the Polynesian Cultural Center and enjoying the fantastic Polynesian folk dances and songs.
Polynesian Cultural Center Dancers will surely offer a rare opportunity for Chinese audience and folk artists from other countries to admire the unique customs of the southern Pacific islands.

The American folk team brings to audiences worldwide the dance and music of the USA. Spectacular performances feature dances of the American people from the early frontier and the Wild West to the singing age of the 1950`s and the elegance of the Big Ballroom era. Both on and off stage, team members win the hearts of people around the world as they communicate enthusiasm, love and friendship.
The American folk team is made up of students from Ricks College, located near the Teton Mountain in Rexburg,ldao. Ricks College is the largest private, two-year college in the United States and is owned and operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints(The Mormons).
阿根廷拉普拉塔民间艺术团（Conjunto de Arte Folkloricodel Plata, Argentina）
Mainly made up of graduates of Buenos Aires University the troupe grew out of the department of Folk Dance of the university.
The primary task for the troupe is to preserve and spread Argentine folk dance and music. It regularly puts on shows in Buenos Aires and other cultural cities, in Argentina, and attended international folk art festivals held in Japan and Brazil.
Dressed in traditional costumes, the troupe members give elegant and wonderful performances of songs and dances with the distinctive features of the regions in the northeast, coast, grasslands and Andes of Argentina. Tapped and collected from among the people, their programmers are tastefully treated, so they have earned the love of both the Argentine people and the people abroad.
The Andorfer Chorus from Austria, "country of music", was founded in 1974. Within a few years, it grew into a comprehensive group of male, mixed and youth chorus. A prestigious music group in Austria, it regularly participates in grand domestic performances. Its numbers are featured by pieces by master of classical music, folk music, vocal music, dance and foreign music. They are regularly shot and telecast by television stations. The group went to perform in Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain, U.S.A., Canada and other places, where it was so well received by the broad music-lovers that it has been honored as "ambassador of music".
加拿大麦科洛克舞蹈团（Mac Culloch Dancers, Canada）
The mac Culloch Dancers troupe was founded in 1955, under the direction of Rae Mac Culloch. Canada's rich multi-cultural identity is portrayed in their lively presentation of Scottish Folkloric and Canadian Step Dancing. The traditional dances of early Canadian settlers are danced to the lively tunes of Scotland's bagpipes and the Irish, French and Scottish fiddle. The dancer's costumes depict the variety of Canadian co lour tradition. This group of young high school and university students has met with much success and recognition both in Canada and in Scotland, Puerto Rico and in the United States.

China Anhui Shengquan Huagudeng Dance Ensemble will present, on behalf of China, during the 3rd china International Folk Art Festival, characteristic huagudeng dance, which is known as "Oriental Ballet".
The ensemble was founded in 1986. it has participated in the 2nd china Cultural Festival the evening party held in Tian'anmen Square for celebrating the 40th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China and the opening ceremony of the 11th Asian Games. In 1992, the ensemble won the Grand Prize of the National Folk Music and Dance Competition. The ensemble also had performing tours in Portugal, Morocco and France.
The ensemble's enthusiastic dance and percussion music describe people's love to life and their happiness about harvest as well as the young people's special way of expressing love towards each other.

Chateau-Gombert Mareseille, France）
Founded in 1927, Roude les Felibren de Chateau-Gombert Marseille is aimed at preserving and developing french folk art.
The group consists of a band and around forty dancers. They are all well picked and trained. Local folk dance schools have been run for children to bring up young successors. The group takes part in grand performances both at home and abroad from time to time. It has performed in Europe and many other countries, where it carried off golden prizes on many occasions.
The troupe presents varied and interesting programmers ranging from the lively and cheerful farandole dance, sword dance, Moresque dance and harvest dance to the gavotte dance of classic elegance.

Dossenheim Folk Art Group was founded in 1922 and at present consists of around 80 members including 30 children and teenagers. With the aim of restoring and reviving the old German folklore, the group not merely performs for the public folk dances, but folk songs and costumes. Affiliated to the group is also a chorus with its repertoire mainly of folk songs.
The group has traveled to perform in France, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Italy and U.S.A. They intend to present to the spectators of more nations the folk songs, dances and costumes as part of the Germany cultural heritage.

Nrutya Lok (The Folk World) comes from the city of Bombay, India`s commercial and financial center. The troupe's fine young folk lovers, choreographers and dancers exhibit in their colorful Indian costumes the elite folk art, rich in forms and styles, of India's various ethnic groups from many parts of the country. The artists, who are all highly skilled and well trained, perform folk music and dances in their purest and unique forms of folklore.
Nutya Lok has been invited to international folk festivals in Ireland, France, Belgium, the former Czechoslovakia, England and U.S.A, Just as its director Dr. Deepak Jumani remarks, this dance troupe aims at spreading the mission of love and friendship, strengthening the bond of understanding among nations across the globe to realize a world of peace and harmony, through India's authentic, elegant folk art.

Students of the Hebrew University, the Rubin Music Academy and the Bezalel School of Arts founded the group in 1956 in Jerusalem. In a short time it became one of Israel's leading folklore groups.
The Dancers, singers and musicians, all in authentic costumes, perform with their youthful enthusiasm. The program is a selection of dances, songs and melodies of Israel and Jewish folklore. The show features ethnic folklore of Jewish communities from Yemen, Iran, Turkey, North Africa, Romania, Poland and Russia, and specifically Israeli creations with the flavor of the Middle East.
The group has taken part in many folklore festivals in Asia, Africa, Europe and America, and has gained many international prizes and medals.
（Japan Folkloric Dance Troupe）
The Japan Folkloric Dance Troupe was founded within the framework of International Artists Center in Tokyo, a non-profit organization engaged in international cultural exchanges.
With the accompaniment of traditional Japanese musical instruments, the troupe can perform different folk dances, which are refined by more than 100 experts in the basis of traditional folk dances from all parts of Japan. The dancers express the elegance and passion of Japanese folk dances with exceptional professionalism.
Since it was founded, the troupe has been to 130 cities in 45 countries all over the world, representing Japan in many important international festivals such as the International Folklore Festival commemorating Munich Olympics 1972 in Munich, Cervantes Festival 1982 in Mexico and Istanbul Festival 1986 in Turkey, The troupe's performances were mostly welcomed.
韩国汉城艺术团（Seoul Performing Arts-Company, Korea）
The Seoul Performing Arts Company was reorganized in 1991, enriching its former being 88 Performing Arts Company that had been founded in 1986. The Company consists of over one hundred well-trained members, who are in the main dancers, musical players and instrumentalists. They are proficient at both traditional and modern forms of dancing, singing, acting and playing.
During its eight-year old existence the Company had a number of performances within and outside the country. The domestic events, which the Company actively took part in, were the `88 Seoul Olympic Cultural Festival the Gala Performance for the inauguration of the 14th President Kim, and the Opening and Closing of the `93 Daejon Expo. The Seoul Performing Arts Company presented the originality of
the traditional Korean culture and arts in China, in the U.S.A., Japan, France, Canada and Brazil.
拉脱维亚席尔塔'塞丁什民间舞蹈团（Folk Dance Ensemble Zelta
Thefolk dance ensemble "Zelta Sietins" was founded in 1958 in Riga, Latvia. At right now about 500 children and youth between the age of three and eighteen attend this individual dance school and learn Latvian ethnographical and classical dances well as modern ones and those of different other nation. Its repertoire contains ancient folklore dances and modern ones. "Zelta Sietins "has performed in almost all the CLS countries as well as Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, Finland, Austria, Japan, United States.
罗马尼亚塞梅尼克歌舞团（Senmenicul Ensemble, Romania）
The Semenicul Ensemble of Romania was established in 1969. The group's programmers are largely inspired by the extremely rich and varied sources of songs and folk dances from the southwestern part of the country, known as Banat, between the Carpathian Mountains and the Danube. The lively presentation of songs and dances is well matched by the colorful, brilliant national costumes that the artists wear.
Since it's founding, the ensemble has given nearly 2,000 shows both at home and abroad, and enjoyed great applause from the audience. It has traveled to perform in over a dozen countries, namely, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Spain, France, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Russia, Greece, Malta and Lebanon, and won gold and silver prizes in the U.K. and France, respectively.
The musical instruments that the ensemble uses are also typical of Romanian folk art.
俄罗斯"故乡"民间舞蹈团（"Native Country"Folk Dance Ensemble, Russia）
The Russia "Native Country " Folk Dance Ensemble is from Krasnodar region. It performs Cossack folk sings and dances, well-known in Cuban, which fully express the Cossack national character-lively, humorous, hot and brave. Its shows may help the audience acquaint themselves with the attractively bright-colored Cossack dress and personal adornment worn from generation to generation, and the peculiar customs at such ceremonies as wedding pageant.
The ensemble members are all in their youth, the majority of them being college and middle school students.
比利时瓦维民间舞蹈团（The "Wouwe" Folk Dance Ensemble of Belgium）
The Wouwe Foolk Dance Ensemble, founded in 1977, is from East Flanders of Belgiun and comprised of students, teachers and functionaries who love folk music and dances. The dances they perform are mainly handed down from the Middle Ages, such as dance by people stamping the fertility out of the ground with baton and sword dances, dances around the Maytree about their love of people and nature, expressing their thanks to the nature's generosity in stilt and harvest dances.
The dancers and musicians offer the audience a chance of appreciating the rich treasure of Flemish traditional dances. Most of the dances show aspects of village life and the labor in the fields. The dances included "Banner Waving", "Gravest Fair", "The Twilling Winds" and "Clog Dance".
The Ensemble has a history of 138 years since its establishment in 1862. Its first important concert took place in 1920 in Hungary. For all the years, many famous artists were actively involved in the work of the ensemble, which had left significant trace and positive affection.
The Ensemble presents folk dances of wide regions of Croatian with original costumes, of which some are over a hundred years old. The instruments they use for their folk songs and dances are called "tamburilzas", very popular folk string instruments of Old Persian origin.
Through long years of sincere and fertile work, the Osijek 1862 takes the first place in enriching the culture of Croatian people.
For 38 years since its establishment in 1960,the National Folk Troupe of Egypt has visited 150 countries all over the world, believing that folk dance is the language of a nation and the root of arts. It presents the folklore that originated from the Egyptian milieu, develops and subjects it to the rules of theater. It has also contributed, through the efforts of its members in forming and supporting more than 80 folk troupes from different regions of Egypt.
A school and a library with departments of music, records, photography and publicity were established by the troupe for the dancers` training and practice, and more importantly, for nurturing more young talents of folk dance.
The "mtatsmida" Ensemble takes its name after the fifth century church, which stands on the top of a steep cliff right at the heart of Tbilist, the capital of Georgia.
For many years the Ensemble has been collecting, studying and advancing folk dances. As rewards, it has won many awards at both national and international festivals.
One of the most striking dances, "Samaia", is a choreographic interpretation of a famous eleventh century Georgian mural painting. A particularly dramatic dance is the dagger dance. In the dance, the dancers throw their daggers into the floor, often several at a time, punctuating the preparedness of the Georgian to defend themselves.
The Ensemble, comprised of 30-35 dancers, has presented performances in more than 25 countries all over the world. Its sensational performances always enrapture the audience and leave the best impression of Georgian art.
The Ensemble does not simply take the name of the place, which is well-known for being the hometown of Frederick Chopin and Polish folk dance Mazurka, but brings it a worldwide reputation.
This colorful and energetic folk group was born in 1949 to the preservation of native folklore, dance, costume and song in a rapidly industrializing post-war world. In 1950,Mazowsze presented its first show in Poland, and in the following year a troupe of 80 dancers average-aged-16 traveled to Paris for its first tour abroad. Since then, the Ensemble has literally toured 42 countries, giving 5600shows at home and abroad with a total attendance of 15 million audience, amongst whom there were crowning heads, presidents and chiefs of important international organizations.
Mazowsze performs the folklore that is artistically transformed and stylized. It is worked up in a form of carefully staged spectacles of great rate and dynamism. An integral part of the show is its plentiful and colorful costumes of which some are directly from the countryside and over a hundred year old. More important than their professional costumes, about 90 percent of the young people engaged in the Ensemble are graduates from ballet and music schools.
Founded in the sixties by a group of students, "Hora" is the "jewel in crown" of Israeli folk dance in terms of professional accomplishment and international recognition.
The troupe usually accepts dancers aged between 18 to 25, most of who grow up with the Hora family and some have performed in the other troupes. Israel`s very best teachers and choreographers have worked with Hora and many of its alumni have moved on to their dance groups throughout the country.
The Ensemble has a rich and varied repertoire including old and new Israeli folk dances and ethnic dances as well as modern ones. It has frequently toured abroad, taking part in international festivals, not only as performers from, but a representative for Israel.
The folk group of "Citta' Di Quarto" was founded in 1928 with the intention of handing down and bringing out the popular traditions of Sardinia and Quartu San` Elena in particular, which were already disappearing at regional, national and international folk festivals, the group continues to do researches on popular traditions. It also set up a school of folk dance, open to children and adults, in order to train and help them appreciate all the aspects of traditional Sardinian life.
Sardinian folk dance was born spontaneously, among the first inhabitants of the island, as an extension of their everyday gestures. Deeply rooted in religious ceremonies, Sardinian daces have never lost their main feature, which is the magic and ritual meeting of the feelings of ach individual blended with the needs of community. These profound religious features and a sense of unity have been handed down right to the present day.
Founded in 1969, ZA INDEKOZA was comprised of a group of young artists. Following vigorous physical training of marathon and technical training on Japanese giant drums, the company made a striking debut in 1975 at its unprecedented Marathon Concert around the United States. Since that, the company has aroused a sensation around the world through powerful and breathtaking music of Japanese giant drums in their performance.
Since drum performing requires physical as well as mental strength, the members of Za Ondekoza run 30-40 kilometers every day to keep themselves in good condition. By driving one's body and mind beyond the limit of complete detachment, one is able to find the spirit of Japanese traditional performing arts. "You can hear the pulse of circulating blood in the body of their performance. There is nothing superficial here, they have got real rhythm", a paper said.
The music of Za Ondekoza originated from the traditional drum exercise and folk music, which was used at early times for driving out evil spirits and praying for blessings. The instruments include bamboo flute, string instruments and drums of different sizes among which the biggest weight up to 700 pound.
South Africa is fortunate for having such a superb, world-class song and dance group Thula Sizwe, to offer to local music lovers and the international music arena.
