The developing of education is the basic project for the developing of country economy and the society. Tibetan government puts the education of farmers as the basic work of this year and of the most important part of the Tibetan basic establishment construction.

It is found out that committee of CPC of Tibet Municipality and Tibetan government have already founded a leading group to plan and lead the Tibetan work as a whole and organized to bring the five-year-plan of assault fortified positions into effect. They will try hard to insure that till 2007 Tibet can popularize the nine year compulsory education and solve the problem of too many illiteracies. Recently there are 55 among 74 counties which have popularized the six years compulsory education and 17 counties have popularized the nine years compulsory education and 37 counties have passed the checking and accepting of eliminating illiteracy.
