Shanxi province, with the abbreviation of Jin for its location to the west of Taihovng Mountain. It accounts for 1.6 per cent of the overall area of the country with more than 156,200 square kilometers at 3436 to 4044 north latitude and 11015 to 114 32 east longitude, which ranks the nineteenth in China. Shanxi neighbored upon Hebei, Henan, Shanxi and Inner Mongolia & Autonomous Region.Besides,it is located at the east of the Yellow River,so it is called as Hedong. Moreover, it belonged to Jingou in Spring and Autumn Peried,so it is abbreviated in Jin. Meanwhile, Han, Zhao and Wei Shared it in the early Warring States, so it is called as Three Jin.

There are five prefectures (Xinzhou, Luliang, Linfen, Jinzhong and Yuncheng) and six cities (Taiyuan, Shuozhou)under its jurisdiction as well as 16 cities in county level and 85 counties. The main cities in the province are atong, Yang quan, Chang Zhi, Hourna, Linfen and Yuci, with Taiyuan as its provincial capital.

Shanxi has a population of 32.036 million that is higher than the average distribution radio in the whole country, among which Han nationality accounts for 90 per cent. In addition, there are 34 minority nationalities including Hul, Man, Mongolia, Korea. Zang, Zhuang, Yao, Tu and liygur with the population of 67 thousand and 58 villages in ethnic group.
