Vice Minister Wang Pei'an Conducted Inspection in Jilin Province

From 13 to 15 August 2008, Mr. Wang Pei'an, Vice Minister of National Population and Family Planning Commission of China (NPFPC) inspected population and family planning work of Jilin Province. He went to Siping City and Baishan City to learn about the implementation of the social support system for some rural families practicing family planning and the special assistance system for families practicing family planning and held discussions with people of childbearing age and population and family planning workers in communities and family planning service stations at the grassroots level.

Vice Minister Wang pointed out that, Jilin Province had make innovative development in population and family planning work with their own characteristics and effectiveness on the basis of their former achievements. In their work, more attention had been paid to economic means, to administration by law and to innovation in mechanism, which reflected the concept of concern for people's livelihood and sustainable development and their practical and realistic style of work. They had done a lot of work in planning and study on population development zones, construction of new families in new countryside, construction of benefit-oriented policy system, endowment insurance and work assessment through "three lines" - the government line, the sector line and the line of family planning system. They had also laid solid foundation in the work of employment training for the only-child and IEC activities, which should be further improved on the basis of summing up experiences. Policies related to benefit orientation should be further straightened to form a system at the provincial level.

Mr. Wu Peijun, Vice Secretary-General of Jilin Provincial Government and Mr. Yu Hongcai, Director General of Jilin Population and Family Planning Committee also joined the inspection. (Source: General Office, Population and Family Planning Committee of Jilin Province)
