7月1日，习近平总书记在庆祝中国共产党成立95周年大会上发表重要讲话，回顾总结了中国近代以来尤其是中国共产党成立95年来的奋斗历程、宝贵经验和历史启示。习近平总书记的重要讲话，在洞察历史中揭示规律，在把握时代发展中昭示未来，强调不忘初心，继续前进，为实现中华民族伟大复兴提供了基本遵循、指明了正确方向，是一篇马克思主义的纲领性文献。

习近平总书记在讲话中指出：一切向前走，都不能忘记走过的路；走得再远、走到再光辉的未来，也不能忘记走过的过去，不能忘记为什么出发。重视历史、尊重历史，善于总结历史、从历史中汲取智慧和力量，这是中国共产党旗帜鲜明的历史观，也是中国共产党的优良传统。有人说，了解中国，必须了解中国共产党；读懂中国共产党，才能读懂中国。我们认为，还应该加一句话，读懂中国共产党的历史，才能读懂中国共产党。

95年来，中国共产党以实现中华民族伟大复兴为历史使命，继承以往几代先进中国人的光荣和梦想，为实现近代以来中国人民必须完成的民族独立、人民解放和国家富强、人民富裕这两大历史任务，团结带领全国各族人民进行不懈奋斗和艰辛探索，克服一切艰难险阻，不断夺取革命建设改革的伟大胜利。中国共产党95年的历史，就是围绕近代以来两大历史任务这一主题和主线，进行不懈奋斗、理论探索、自身建设的光辉历史。

95年来，中国共产党紧紧依靠人民，跨过一道又一道沟坎，取得一个又一个胜利，为中华民族作出了三个方面的伟大历史贡献：一是团结带领中国人民进行28年浴血奋战，打败日本帝国主义，推翻国民党反动统治，完成新民主主义革命，建立了中华人民共和国；二是团结带领中国人民完成社会主义革命，确立社会主义基本制度，消灭一切剥削制度，推进了社会主义建设；三是团结带领中国人民进行改革开放新的伟大革命，极大激发广大人民群众的创造性，极大解放和发展社会生产力，极大增强社会发展活力，人民生活显著改善，综合国力显著增强，国际地位显著提高。在中国革命建设改革波澜壮阔的伟大实践中，实现了三次伟大飞跃，即实现了中国从几千年封建专制政治向人民民主的伟大飞跃，实现了中华民族由不断衰落到根本扭转命运、持续走向繁荣富强的伟大飞跃，实现了中国人民从站起来到富起来、强起来的伟大飞跃。

95年来，中国共产党紧紧依靠人民，坚持独立自主走自己的路，历经千辛万苦，付出各种代价，取得革命建设改革伟大胜利，开创和发展了中国特色社会主义，从根本上改变了中国人民和中华民族的前途命运。中国特色社会主义道路，中国特色社会主义理论体系，中国特色社会主义制度，是党和人民95年奋斗、创造、积累的根本成就。

95年来，中国共产党坚持把马克思主义基本原理同中国实际和时代特征相结合，不断探索适合中国国情的革命和建设道路，推进理论创新、实践创新，不断把马克思主义中国化推向前进，在理论上发生了两次历史性飞跃，产生了两大理论成果。第一次飞跃发生在新民主主义革命时期，形成了马克思主义中国化的理论成果毛泽东思想。第二次飞跃发生在党的十一届三中全会以后，形成了包括邓小平理论、“三个代表”重要思想、科学发展观在内的中国特色社会主义理论体系。党的十八大以来，以习近平同志为总书记的党中央坚持和发展中国特色社会主义，形成了治国理政新理念新思想新战略。

95年来，中国共产党加强和推进自身建设，保持和发展先进性纯洁性，经受住各种困难和风险考验，不断发展壮大。新民主主义革命时期，中国共产党人从中国实际出发，开创了党的建设伟大工程，成功把党建设成为一个全国范围的、广大群众性的、思想上政治上组织上完全巩固的马克思主义政党，夺取了中国革命的胜利。改革开放新时期，中国共产党人随着实践和时代发展，为确保中国共产党始终成为中国特色社会主义事业的坚强领导核心，开创和推进了党的建设新的伟大工程。党的十八大以后，以习近平同志为总书记的党中央，以作风建设为突破口，以党的群众路线教育实践活动为抓手，以反腐倡廉为动力，全面推进党的思想建设、组织建设、作风建设、反腐倡廉建设、制度建设，开创全面从严治党新格局，使中国共产党始终走在时代前列，始终团结带领人民朝着既定的目标奋勇前进。

95年来，中国走过的历程，中国人民和中华民族走过的历程，是中国共产党和中国人民用鲜血、汗水、泪水写就的，充满着苦难和辉煌、曲折和胜利、付出和收获。在中国共产党领导下，中国社会发生的变革，中国人民命运发生的变化，其广度和深度，其政治影响和社会意义，在人类发展史上都是十分罕见的。这是中华民族发展史上可歌可泣、辉煌壮丽篇章，也是中国人民和中华民族继往开来、奋勇前进的坚实基础。

中国共产党领导和依靠人民自强不息、顽强奋进，在中华民族伟大复兴道路上实现社会巨变并取得辉煌成就。我国社会生产力、经济实力、科技实力大幅提高，人民生活水平、居民收入水平、社会保障水平大幅提升，综合国力、国际竞争力、国际影响力大幅增强。一个只有50多人的小党，已经成为拥有8875.8万多名党员的世界最大规模的执政党；一个曾经四分五裂、积贫积弱的国家，已经从衰败走向复兴，崛起于世界民族之林；具有5000多年历史的中华文明、具有500年历史的社会主义理论和实践、具有60多年历史的新中国建设事业都焕发出新的蓬勃生机。 历史和现实雄辩地证明：没有共产党就没有新中国，只有社会主义才能救中国，只有中国特色社会主义才能发展中国。中国特色社会主义，既是我们必须不断推进的伟大事业，又是我们开辟未来的根本保证。中国特色社会主义道路是实现社会主义现代化的必由之路，是创造人民美好生活的必由之路；中国特色社会主义理论体系是指导党和人民沿着中国特色社会主义道路实现中华民族伟大复兴的正确理论，是立于时代前沿、与时俱进的科学理论；中国特色社会主义制度是当代中国发展进步的根本制度保障，是具有鲜明中国特色、明显制度优势、强大自我完善能力的先进制度。 正如习近平总书记所指出的，中国革命历史是最好的营养剂。中国共产党的历史是一部丰富生动的教科书。今天我们回顾历史，不是为了从成功中寻求慰藉，更不是为了躺在功劳簿上、为回避今天面临的困难和问题寻找借口，而是为了总结历史经验、把握历史规律，增强开拓前进的勇气和力量。95年党的历史给我们很多历史昭示和启迪。

95年党的历史昭示我们：马克思主义是立党立国的根本，是指引中国发展进步的旗帜，是全党全国各族人民团结奋斗的共同思想基础。我们必须坚持把马克思主义基本原理同中国实际和时代特征相结合，不断推进马克思主义中国化、时代化、大众化。

95年党的历史昭示我们：各国的国情不同，发展道路也必然不同，不可能有适用于一切国家、一切时代固定不变的发展道路和模式。我们必须坚持中国的事情按照中国的情况办、依靠中国人民自己的力量办，坚定不移地走中国特色社会主义道路。

95年党的历史昭示我们：人民是历史的创造者，是真正的英雄，是中国共产党最深厚的力量源泉和胜利之本。党来自于人民、植根于人民、服务于人民，人民立场是中国共产党的根本政治立场。我们必须始终坚持为人民服务的宗旨，一切为了人民、一切依靠人民，保持同人民群众的血肉联系，不断把为人民造福事业推向前进。

95年党的历史昭示我们：没有中国共产党作为中国特色社会主义事业的坚强领导核心，就没有中国的现代化，就没有中华民族伟大复兴；坚持和完善党的领导，是党和国家的根本所在、命脉所在，是全国各族人民的利益所在、幸福所在，因此必须保持党的先进性和纯洁性，着力提高执政能力和领导水平，着力增强抵御风险和拒腐防变能力，不断把党的建设新的伟大工程推向前进。

不忘初心，才能继续前进；总结历史，才能开辟未来。党史工作是党的一项具有全局意义和深远影响的工作，是党的事业的重要组成部分，在党和国家工作大局中具有不可替代的重要地位和作用。党史工作紧紧围绕党的中心任务，在推进革命建设改革事业、加强和改进党的建设等方面发挥了重要作用。中国共产党历来高度重视党史工作，注重从党的历史经验中汲取开拓前进的智慧和力量。以毛泽东、邓小平、江泽民同志为核心的党的三代中央领导集体，以胡锦涛同志为总书记的党中央，分别在不同时期对党史工作作出一系列重要指示。党的十八大以来，以习近平同志为总书记的党中央，对党的历史和党史工作作了一系列新的重要论述，为党史工作发展指明了方向。

为庆祝中国共产党成立95周年，中央党史研究室部署了许多相关工作。建党95周年前夕，中央党史研究室编写出版了《中国共产党的九十年》，就是其中的重中之重。编写出版《九十年》，是党中央赋予中央党史研究室的一项重要任务，编写工作始终得到党中央和中央领导同志的亲切关怀和精心指导。《九十年》编写历时近6年，是中央党史研究室举全室之力认真组织编写，各相关部门通力合作的结果。这是迄今为止国内公开出版的反映中国共产党历史时间跨度最长、内容最为系统完整的一部党史基本著作，为广大党员、干部、群众和青少年学习党史提供了最新权威读本，为全党正在开展的“两学一做”学习教育提供了基本党史教材。

On July 1, General Secretary Xi Jinping, in the conference of celebrating the 95th anniversary of the CPC building, made an important speech. He reviewed and summarized the struggling course, valuable experience and historical revelation of the CPC since the modern times, especially in the 95 years since the CPC was founded. General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech, reveals the rules in insight into the history, indicates the future in the grasp of the times development, stresses not forgetting the beginning mind and continuing to go forward. The speech provides basic principles, and points in the right direction to achieve the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation, and is a programmatic document of Marxism.

General Secretary Xi Jinping, in his speech, points out that, everything moves forward, but we can not forget the way before; Even we go far and go to a more glorious future, we can not forget the past we went through and the reason why we started. Paying attention to history, respecting history, being good at summing up history, and drawing wisdom and strength from history, are the clear-cut history view and excellent tradition of the CPC. Some people say, if you want to know China, you must know the CPC; if you want to read China, you must read the CPC. We believe that, they should add a word that if you want to understand the CPC, you must understand the history of the CPC.

In the 95 years, the CPC has taken the realization of the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation as its historical mission, and inherited the glory and dream of the advanced Chinese people of previous generations. In order to realize the two historical tasks of the national independence, people's liberation and the powerfulness of the nation, prosperity of the people, which Chinese people must accomplish since modern times, the CPC has united and led the people of all ethnic groups to struggle unremittingly and explore hard, overcome all difficulties and obstacles, and win the great victory in the revolution, construction and reform. The history of the CPC in the 95 years, is the glorious history of the unremitting struggle, theoretical exploration, self construction around the two historic tasks since modern times.

In the 95 years, the CPC has relied firmly on the people, stridden over one ditch after another, achieved one victory after another, and made great historic contribution to Chinese nation in three aspects. Firstly, the CPC has united and led the Chinese people to fight for 28 years, defeat Japanese imperialism, overthrow the Kuomintang reactionary rule, complete the new democratic revolution, and build the People's Republic of China. Secondly, the CPC has united and led the Chinese people to complete the socialist revolution, establish the basic socialist system, eliminate all exploitation systems, and promote the socialist construction. Thirdly, the CPC has united and led the Chinese people to carry on the new great revolution of reform and opening up, greatly stimulate people's creativity, greatly liberate and develop the social productivity, greatly enhance the vitality of social development, and then the people's life has remarkably improved, the overall national strength remarkably strengthened, and the international status remarkably enhanced. The magnificent practice of Chinese revolution, construction and reform has realized the three great leap forward, that is, the great leap of China from feudal autocracy of thousands of years to people's democracy, the great leap of the Chinese nation from declining consistently to reversing the fate fundamentally, and continuing prosperity, and the great leap of the Chinese people from standing up to getting rich and strong.

In the 95 years, the CPC has relied firmly on the people, adhered to going our own way independently, gone through hardships, paid all costs, achieved great success in revolution, construction and reform, created and developed socialism with Chinese characteristics, and fundamentally changed the future and destiny of the Chinese people and Chinese nation. The road of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the theory system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the socialist system with Chinese characteristics, are the ultimate success of the party and the people struggling, creating and accumulating in the 95 years.

In the 95 years, the CPC has adhered to combining the basic principle of Marxism with the Chinese reality and the features of the times, constantly explored the revolution and construction road suitable to Chinese conditions, promoted theoretical and practical innovation, and constantly put forward Marxism sinicization. The two historical leap happened in theory, causing two theory results. The first leap took place in the new democratic revolution period, and formed Mao Zedong Thought, the theoretical achievement of the Marx doctrine sinicization. The second leap took place after the third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, and formed the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics, including Deng Xiaoping Theory, the important thought of “The Three Represents”, and Scientific Development Concept. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as General Secretary, has upheld and developed socialism with Chinese characteristics, and formed the new concept, new thought and new strategy of governing the country.

In the 95 years, the CPC has strengthened and promoted the self construction, maintained and developed progressiveness and purity, withstood all kinds of difficulties and risks, and continued to grow and develop. In the new democratic revolution period, the CPC started from Chinese reality, created the great project of the party construction, succeeded in building a nationwide Marxist party, which had wide masses foundation and was fully consolidated in ideology, politics and organization, and won the victory of Chinese revolution. In the new period of reform and opening up, the CPC, keeping to the practice and the times, to ensure the CPC to be always the strong core of leadership of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, created and promoted the new great project of the party construction. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as General Secretary, has taken the style building as the breakthrough, the party's mass line and educational practice as the device, combating corruption and building a clean government as a driving force. They have comprehensively promoted the party's ideological, organizational, style, combating corruption, and system construction, and created a new pattern of comprehensively and strictly governing the party. Therefore, the CPC always walks in the forefront of the times, and always unites and leads the people to forge ahead toward the established goal.

In the 95 years, the process, which China went through, the Chinese people and Chinese nation went through, has been written with blood, sweat, and tears by the CPC and the Chinese people, full of suffering and brilliance, twists and victories, pain and gain. Under the leadership of the CPC, the changes in Chinese society and in the destiny of the Chinese people, their breadth and depth, and their political and social impact, are very rare in the human history. It is the glorious chapter in the history of the Chinese nation development, and also the solid foundation of the Chinese people and Chinese nation continuing to open up and forge ahead.

The CPC has led and relied on the people to strengthen ourselves unremittingly and struggle tenaciously, and has realized the social upheaval and made brilliant achievements in the road of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Chinese social productivity, economic and technological strength has been greatly improved; people's living standard, the residents’ income and the social security level has been significantly enhanced; the comprehensive national strength, international competitiveness and influence has been greatly strengthened. A small party of only 50 people, has become the world's largest ruling party of 88.758 million. A nation which was once split, poor and weak, has already been on the road of reviving from the decline, and rising in the nations of the world. Chinese civilization with 5000 years, the socialism theory and practice with 500 years, and the new China construction cause with 60 years are full of new vitality.

The history and reality prove eloquently that, there would be no new China without the CPC; only socialism can save China, and only socialism with Chinese characteristics can develop China. Socialism with Chinese characteristics, is the great cause that we must continuously push forward, and also the fundamental guarantee that we open up the future. The road of socialism with Chinese characteristics is the only way of realizing socialist modernization, and the only way of creating the people's happy life. The theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics is the correct theory, guiding the party and people to go along the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and is the scientific theory at the forefront of the times. The socialist system with Chinese characteristics is the fundamental institutional guarantee for the development and progress of contemporary China, and is the advanced system with distinctive Chinese characteristics, obvious system advantages, and strong ability of self-improvement.

As General Secretary Xi Jinping points out, the history of Chinese revolution is the best nutrition agent. The history of the CPC is a vivid textbook. Today, we review the history, not to seek comfort from success, not to lie on the laurels to look for an excuse for avoiding the difficulties and problems we faced, but to summarize the historical experience, grasp the law of history, and enhance the courage and strength to go forward. The party's history in the 95 years gives us a lot of historical implication and enlightenment.

The party’s history in the 95 years manifests that, Marxism is fundamental to the founding of our party and our country, is the banner guiding the development and progress of China, and the common ideological foundation for the unity and struggle of the whole party and the people of all ethnic groups in the country. We must persist in combing the basic principles of Marxism with Chinese reality and the features of the times, and constantly promoting Marxism to be in accordance to Chinese reality, the era and the masses.

The party’s history in the 95 years manifests that, countries have different national conditions, paths of development are bound to be different, so a constant development pattern and mode, which applies to all countries and all time, can’t possibly exist. We must adhere to dong the things in China, keeping to Chinese situation and relying on the strength of the Chinese people, and unswervingly take the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

The party’s history in the 95 years manifests that, the people are the creators of history, the real hero, and the most profound source of strength and victory of the CPC. The party comes from the people, is rooted in the people, and serves the people; the position of the people is the fundamental political position of the CPC. We must always adhere to the aim of serving the people, all for the people, all relying on the people, maintaining the flesh and blood ties with the masses of the people, and pushing forward the great cause of benefiting the people.

The party’s history in the 95 years manifests that, there would be no Chinese modernization and great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, if the CPC was not the strong core of leadership of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Upholding and improving the party's leadership, is the essence and lifeblood of the party and the state, and the interests and happiness of the people of all ethnic groups. Therefore, we must keep the party's progressiveness and purity, strive to improve the ruling ability and leading level, enhance the ability to resist the risk and combat corruption, and continuously push forward the new great project of party building.

Not forgetting the beginning heart, you can continue to move forward; summarizing the history, you can open up the future. The party history work is a work with a significant and far-reaching impact, an important part of the party’s career, and has an important status and irreplaceable role in the overall work of the party and country. The party history work is firmly bound up in the central task of the party, and plays an important role in promoting the cause of revolution construction and reform, and strengthening and improving the party construction. The CPC has always attached great importance to the party history work, and focused on drawing up the wisdom and strength from the historical experience of the party. The three generations of central leadership with Comrade Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, and Jiang Zemin as the core, and the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Hu Jintao as General Secretary, respectively made a series of important instructions on the party history work in the different stages. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as General Secretary, has made a series of new important exposition on the history of the party and the party history work, and pointed out the direction for the development of the party history work.


To celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, Party History Research Center of the CPC Central Committee has deployed a number of related work. On the eve of the 95th anniversary, Party History Research Center of the CPC Central Committee compiled and published The Ninety Years of the Communist Party of China, which is the priority among priorities. Compiling and publishing The Ninety Years, is an important task which the Central Committee entrusted to Party History Research Center, and the writing work has always been cared and guided by the CPC Central Committee and the leading comrades of the Central Committee. The Ninety Years writing has lasted for nearly 6 years, and the work is the result of all the Party History Research Center seriously compiling and writing, and the relevant departments cooperating. This is a basic party history work, which so far has the longest time span and the most systematical and complete content reflecting the history of the CPC among the published books. The work provides the latest authoritative textbook for the majority of the party members, cadres, masses, and young people to learn party history, and provides basic party history textbooks for the developing “Party Building Studies” learning education in the whole party.
